No Supermodels Wanted In This House.
I ordered my kids a set of, "Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories". It has a lot of bedtime stories that are narrated by famous people. Shelley Duvall is the creator of the movies so it shows her before each story is read. Most people would not describe her as a looker but my son LOVES her. Every time we watch the bedtime stories he says to me, "Mommy, She's Pretty". The first time he said it I thought he must be talking about a character in the book, but eventually realized it was Shelley he was going on about. I almost asked him if we were watching the same person on TV (but I didn't). I now realize what they mean when they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
For those of you who don't know who Shelley Duvall is, I will post a few pictures so you.

Things they never tell you as a mom.........
It's funny because when you think of having kids you think of laughter, hugs, kisses, and cuddles. What you don't put into the equation is when kids stick things in their nose and you have to be a doctor and get it out.
This is exactly what happened to me two nights ago. Lake had a necklace he had made in preschool. It had beads on it which he had strung onto the necklace. Apparently he decided to take the beads off the necklace and put one in his nose. This is pretty much how the conversation went:
Lake: Mommy, Get it out.
Me: Get what out Lake?
Lake: Mommy, GET IT OUT!
Me: Lake, do you need to blow your nose? [He had his finger half-way up his nose at this point].
Lake: Mommy, It up there.
Me: Lake, Let me get you a tissue and we can get it out (thinking it was a bad stuffed up nose).
Lake: OK (walks over to me).
Me: (Looked into his nose and couldn't see anything) Lake there is nothing there.
Lake: Mommy, bead in nose
Me: Are you being serious. Did you really stick the bead up your nose?
Lake: Yes
Me: Lake, tell mommy the truth.....Did you REALLY stick the bead up your nose?
Lake: Yes. Get it out, Mommy.
Me: Okay, just do what mommy says and we will get it out.
Lake: Okay
The bead was up his left nostril so I covered his right nostril with my finger and told him to blow really hard (hoping the pressure would push it down). Right when he did it I heard a huge whistle come from his nose. We repeated this a few times but it just kept whistling. I was trying not to laugh as he was scared at this point....and frankly so was I. But, hearing the whistle was hilarious. Before heading to the emergency room I thought I would try and pull it out myself. I told Lake to lay down and not move. This was the first time he actually listened. He layed down and I got my tweezers. I took the tweezers and mirror and began my surgery. I put the tweezers up his nose far enough to grab a hold of the bead and pull it to where I could see the bottom of it. I stood Lake up and repeated what I had done before -- putting my finger on his right nostril and having him blow really hard. After about the 3rd time the bead shot out of his nose. I gathered he and Libby and showed them the bead explaining we don't stick anything in our nose or ears as it can get stuck. Once it was all done Lake looked and me and said, "Mommy, can I have my bead back?"
And No, I did not give it back to him :)

Crystal Gayle is cooler than I thought........
I was driving today and heard this song. I had never heard it before but loved it. I looked up who sang it and low and behold it was Crystal Gayle. I guess I will have to check out her other songs because I loved this one:

We finally got our Christmas tree up!
Here are a few pictures of the kids the day we put up our Christmas tree. Libby's hair made me laugh, so I had to get pictures of it. This is after she woke up from her nap. Then there is Lake wearing his Chef outfit which he thinks is his "work" outfit. He helps me clean in it. You can see he is cleaning the sink while wearing it and kissing the kitchen lights :).

Lake and Libby Hiking
Lake and Libby went hiking with my dad and sister at Silver Lake this weekend. Lake was so worn out he actually fell asleep on a rock. My sister sent me these pics and I had to post them since they are so sweet. The backpack Libby is wearing has been glued on her since she got it. She sleeps with it, eats with it, and would bathe with it if I would let her. The only thing she carries in it is her candy necklaces but I guess that's enough in her mind to require a backpack :). She loves to pretend she is going to pre-school like her big brother. It makes me laugh how much she mimics him. Ahhhhhh..........

Tinkerbell and Lagoon
Here are a few pics of Libby in her little Tinkerbell outfit my friend Debbie bought for her. Libby loves the butterfly on the skirt and goes around the house rubbing it and pointing to it saying "Utterfly".
Lake and I went to Lagoon with our neighbors on Saturday. He LOVED it. He and Grace (my neighbors daughter) are the same age so it was cool because they got to go on all the rides together. He keeps saying, "Goon Fun" and "I like GaLoon". I am assuming this means Lagoon???? I hadn't been in 13 years so it was cool to see how much better it's gotten. Definitely worth taking the kids to.
My neighbors and I want to make it an annual thing to go together since both of our kids are the same ages. Yay!!!

Mixture of Pics........
Here are some pictures of the kids. Libby and Lake are sporting a pink tutu in a few pics. Aunt Lana had got it for Libby as a birthday gift but Lake has taken it over whenever possible. Glad to know he is in touch with his feminine side. In Lake's defense, he can take a fall down an entire set of stairs and not even cry. :)
The picture of Lake in the toy box was cute because I came in his room and he was asleep in the box. By the time I grabbed my camera he had woke up but hadn't climbed out of the box yet. He looked so cute asleep in it because his head was laying right on his knee.
The picture of Libby in the purple and blue sweater is so cute. My mom bought that sweater from actual Eskimos in Alaska. It is all hand made and they only charged $12 for it. They literally sit in a big room and make things out of yarn. Crazy!
Last are some pictures of my mom and I in our Raccoon hats I found at a gas station in Montana. I bought them because they reminded me of my brothers hats when they were little. I swear every boy back in the day had a raccoon hat. I kept saying to strangers, "If you want a hat then you better get a Raccoon of your own". The funniest part was my mom stopping at a gas station to fill up. When she got out of the car a guy about her age looked over at her and just shook his head. I said to my mom, "Did you see that guy giving you a weird look for your Raccoon hat?" My mom then replied, "I can't help it if he's jealous."

Jackson Hole, Wyoming 2009
The kids and I went to Jackson Hole this weekend. It was pretty hectic with 2 little ones but overall a fun time.
Here is a quick synopsis of the pictures I am posting:
1. The kids getting pumped up to go on the trip (hence the cowboy hats). Even cowgirls like binkis -- according to Libby.
2. The kids and I getting ready to go on the gondola ride to see the Teton Mtns. Lake had a breakdown when we were done. He wanted to go again and again. He seriously LOVED the gondola ride. By the way, I just noticed I have Libby's monkey in a headlock. Oops!
3. Lake sitting on a wood ski rack in the condo. Leave it to my kids to bypass 20 other seats and want to sit on a small wood ledge in a corner.
4. Individual pictures of Lake, Libby, and myself while while in Jackson. We all had our typical faces on.
Lake: Crazy Face,
Libby: Scowl,
Myself: Typical posed smile.
5. The big buffalo head that was hanging in the condo -- which Libby kept referring to as, "The Goat". I would tell her it was a buffalo and then she would say, "Hi Goat".
